Millions of people may not realize that because type 2 diabetes runs in their family they are at risk for developing the disease.
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and NDEP needs your help to spread the word about the importance of family health history. If your mother, father, sister, or brother has diabetes, you are at risk. But you can take steps to prevent type 2 diabetes by making important lifestyle changes.
Each day, many of you log in to Facebook, along with millions of other people around world. Help NDEP raise awareness of family health history and diabetes by sharing the following message with your friends and family:
Many people with type 2 diabetes have one or more family members with the disease. During National Diabetes Awareness Month, the National Diabetes Education Program encourages everyone to discuss health history with their family to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
